Housed in a restored traditional townhouse in the heart of Naramachi, the Naramachi Karakuri Toy Museum introduces visitors to the fascinating world of traditional Japanese toys and folk crafts. The museum displays a wide variety of handcrafted toys, including karakuri (mechanical) toys, spinning tops, daruma figures, and regional folk toys that reflect the creativity and craftsmanship of everyday life in Japan.

Unlike many museums, visitors are encouraged to handle and play with many of the exhibits, making the experience enjoyable for both children and adults. Made from natural materials such as wood, bamboo, and washi paper, these toys offer insight into the ingenuity, skills, and cultural traditions passed down through generations.
